State Treasurer Mike Pellicciotti offered the following statement on President Joe Biden signing the American Rescue Plan into law today. Pellicciotti joined with 16 other state treasurers last month to call on Congress to pass this legislation.

“I have partnered with state treasurers around the country to advocate that Congress pass the American Rescue Plan, because it will provide our state important federal funding to transition from our COVID economic challenges. It will get money in people’s pockets now, provide economic stimulus of our economy, help us navigate our state COVID-budget challenges, and provide a lifeline to local governments so they can continue to provide necessary community services.”

President Biden’s $1.9 trillion COVID-relief American Rescue Plan will provide roughly $7 billion to the State of Washington and local municipalities in stimulus money. The relief package’s contributions to Washington state includes $4.25 billion for state government, $1.48 billion for Washington state counties, and $1.18 billion for Washington cities, towns, and other governments.
