Bond and COP Sales

Information on upcoming and recent sales of Washington's Bonds and Certificates of Participation

The majority of the state’s debt obligations are Various Purpose (VP) General Obligation (GO) bonds and Motor Vehicle Fuel Tax and Vehicle Related Fee General Obligation (MVFT/VRF) GO bonds. VP GO bonds pay for capital projects such as public school construction, higher education facilities, environmental preservation, state office buildings, correctional facilities, and public works infrastructure, while MVFT/VRF GO bonds finance highways, roads, bridges, and ferries.

The state’s Lease-Purchase Program provides for the financing of equipment and real estate to be used by the state and its agencies through the sale of certificates of participation (COPs). Local governments participate in the Lease-Purchase Program for the acquisition of real and personal property through the LOCAL Program.

New money GO bonds are generally issued on a semi-annual basis, with refundings and other types of bonds for project financings sold as needed. COPs are typically sold three times per year.

The Preliminary Official Statement, issued in advance of a sale, speaks only as of its date and is subject to revision and completion in a Final Official Statement, which is available after the sale of the bonds and/or certificates.

This is not an offer to sell or a solicitation of an offer to buy the bonds or certificates of participation. Bonds and/or certificates may only be purchased through a municipal securities broker-dealer. Refer to the Official Statement for complete information on each issue.
